12th Birding Fair

The tradition should go on : the 12th Indian Birding Fair at Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur will be held during January 2009. The Fairs began on the embankment of the Lake eleven years ago with the objective to conserve this Heritage Lake through citizens’ initiative and raise awareness about conservation of birds and their habitat. That is now happening and the 12th Fair will open on an optimistic note.

Each Fair, as indicated below, was dedicated to a cause; which endangered species, or threatened habitat should be highlighted and in what manner by the 12th Fair?

* In protest against Government’s inaction towards the lake conservation, the 2nd Fair was not organized in 1998.

The organizers will appreciate sponsorship or donation as a contribution towards the cost of mounting and running the Fair. The Fair is now a prestigious annual event in the Indian calendar for all those who share a deep concern for the environment and wildlife. A publication will be brought out to mark the 12th Fair and contributors and sponsors shall be gratefully acknowledged.
