Since
bird flights do not stop at borders and because habitat needs
and protection issues are similar in many areas of the world, bird
conservation is truly an international concern. To help address these concerns, many countries hold bird fairs and festivals similar to the Indian Bird Fair.
Doing the best
In order to share information and promote cooperation, TWSI has recently begun building a network of organizations who conduct fairs in countries around the world. Each organization that joins the network must promise to include an international component in its fair and to feature the programs of one of the other network members in an exhibit or publication as a way of broadening people's perspectives about conservation accomplishments and needs in other parts of the world.
The first network member to join with TWSI is Environmental Education and Conservation Global headquartered in Rochester, New York, USA. EECG and TWSI featured information on each other's programs at their fairs in 2005 and will continue to do so in the future. Additional members for the network are being sought.
